This is the location from which the new FreeREG transcription prgram, WinFreeREG, can be downloaded. WinFreeREG is a complete rewrite of the older WinREG and is, to a large extent, a much simpler and less complicated program for transcribing Parish Records. The latest available version is 1.1.13, and can be downloaded by clicking here. A short summary of the changes since the previous version can be found in the Previous Versions page.
Earlier versions of the program are not going to be generally available but can be requested from the developer. Send an email request to Mike Fry but there is little point in requesting an earlier version as these are guaranteed to be 'buggy'.
Once the program is made available to the general population of transcription volunteers, this email facility will no longer be available. Instead, as each new version is released, an announcement will be made on the FreeREG Transcribers group on Google. Since the program currently doesn't have the capability of automatically updating itself, it will be up to the individual transcriber to keep his/her copy of the program up to date
